The SOUG Day Romandie on May 21 will take place in an original place and will be dedicated to openness.

This event will offer a major place to other technologies related to „data“ in general. RDBMS SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle will be discussed, alongside GraphDatabase technologies and more specific Datawarehouse oriented products.

Many sessions will present feedback on concrete projects.

We are pleased to offer you such an open and broad agenda to help you build your IT of tomorrow.

It is also worth mentioning the quality of our speakers, whose reputation often goes beyond our Swiss borders.

Register now, places are limited!

Franck Pachot (FR), CERN

Through the years I’ve been involved in quite a number of serious data migration projects.
The first thing I learned is that obviously there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution for such projects.
But there are also things I run into each and every time. This session highlights some of those experiences, so that if you are about to be pulled into such a data migration project you may recognize and avoid some of the bad things coming your way.

SQL Server is only on Windows ? Just forget it and join this session to discover SQL Server in the Open Source world and new emerging infrastructures! Open source is now definitely part of the Microsoft strategy. Indeed, SQL Server may run either on a physical or a virtual machine, and recently on the top of Windows or Linux operation system as well. In fact, it is up to you to make the choice that will fit your need. At the same time cloud and containers is rising and databases are becoming an important part of these new emerging infrastructures. In this session, let’s see how Microsoft managed to make SQL Server cross-platform and let’s explore features available in this new world.
David Barbarin (FR), dbi services

The presentation discusses the use of the Smart-DB concept, a database-centered architecture: Good and Bad.
This approach, although recently (re)launched by Oracle, is not limited to a particular DB-product. SmartDB is applicable to most modern databases.
From the observation of several systems we show symptoms, explain diagnoses and suggest fixes.
The goal is to explain where SmartDB works (mostly) and (sometimes) doesnt work.

Would you like to get a clustered environment up and running in a very short time and automate your deployment? What are you waiting for? Attend my session and you will discover how to get a MySQL high available replication topology on Docker.

Continuous flow. Streaming. Near real-time. These are all terms used to identify the need for quick access to data, and it’s a common request. In this session, we’ll look at how Oracle GoldenGate can be configured to extract transactions from a database and load them into a cloud object store. We’ll also explore various use cases and the tools available to access and analyze the data from the cloud object store, leaving attendees with ideas for implementing source-to-cloud data replication.

Oracle Application Express (APEX) is a no-cost option included with all versions of the Oracle database. It has been available since 2004 and is becoming the ideal tool for fast, „low-code“ development in an Oracle environment.

The business case for using Oracle APEX is stronger than ever. The goal of this session is to take a good look at the features of Oracle APEX and at the benefits that APEX brings to your business today.
Niall Mc Phillips (EN), Long Acre sàrl

Property Graph databases are a different way to “tell” a story through connections between objects instead of the typical tables and columns approach of relational databases. Oracle Database 12cR2 introduced support for Property Graph and didn’t stop at a simple support: they made Property Graph a polyglot solution accessible by almost any language. SQL, Java, Groovy, Python, REST api, Apache Zeppelin, Cytoscape – you name it. Property Graph can do them all. One tool speaking many languages.
